Q: How do you dress a core drill bit?

One traditional way is to use good silcate sand and throw it in your concrete hole every once in while to deglaze the diamonds in the bit. Turn the water supply all the way off and run the core drill bit dry for just a bit, then slowly add water. Repeat until the core drill bit starts cutting the concrete.

Q: What if you hit rebar when drilling concrete?

If you think you hit rebar, confirm whether you have hit a vertical or horizontal rod by pulling out of the hole and checking out the inside with a flashlight; then, seal the hole thoroughly with weatherproof white filler to guard against water damage and consequent rusting of the inner reinforcement.
